Exterior Scenes


Notes for the Artist

These scenes should be lit as if there's a cool full moon providing some amount of ambient light. Generally speaking, no further adjustments will be made by the Game Engine (other than cropping, zooming, and compositing of overlays on the backdrop layer.)

Location Options such as Doors Open and Lights On only impact the rendering of buildings in the backdrop (and possibly some overlays) of the scenes.

Game Engine Notes - Characters in External Nighttime Scenes

Characters in Exterior Nighttime Scenes are lit with Soft Front Standing lighting.

There may be minor variations based on placement of Character Models in the scene. For example, a character Standing underneath a “Street Lamp” type of light (such as the light over the drinking fountains on the Bath House) could be lit with Overhead Standing Lighting, tinted and adjusted to best fit the scene.)

If a Character needs to be Sitting, a different lighting model will typically be used (either Lantern Lighting or Campfire Exterior depending on the location.)
